Maltina Teacher of the Year 2024 calls for entries

Maltina, a premium malt drink brand from the stable of Nigerian Breweries Plc, has called for entry submission and application for the 10th edition of Maltina Teacher of the Year 2024/ 2025 competition. The competition which flagged off on 16th May, 2024, will close on the 19th June, 2024.
Managing Director and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, represented by Grace Omo-Lamai, the Human Resources Manager, during the flag-off ceremony held at Nigerian Breweries corporate office at Iganmu, Lagos, said Maltina Teacher of the Year competition is geared towards celebrating the enthusiastic tutors for their genuine passion in raising future leaders. She also lauded their unwavering commitment to shaping the future of young people in Nigeria.
“Today marks the beginning of another journey to appreciate and celebrate the tireless efforts, dedication and unwavering commitment of our teachers. The Maltina Teacher of the Year competition presents an opportunity to express our gratitude to teachers for the sacrifices they make, the extra hours they invest and the guidance and mentorship they provide to ensure the success of our youth through this competition. We recognize the efforts of teachers in countless ways that they have shaped our future. We acknowledge their selflessness passion for teaching and their relentless pursuit of our growth and development. We are quite excited about the journey to this milestone.”
Highlighting the application processes, Sade Morgan, the Corporate Affairs Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, explained that this year’s edition is symbolic of the 10th edition and that it will be anchored on a special theme: “A decade of Inspiring Excellence in Teaching.”
She explained that the initiative is open to teachers in all secondary schools (public and private) across the six geopolitical zones and 36 states of the country, including the Federal Capital Territory. Application is also free and teachers must not be above 55 years of age.
She noted that the participant must also have registered with Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
Morgan emphasized the significance of the accolades being bestowed upon the deserving teachers is to spotlight teachers who have been doing exceptionally well and helping to groom and nurture the next generation through this award.
According to her, a new logo has been unveiled to commemorate the 10th anniversary. Mrs. Morgan said this is part of Maltina’s vision in weaving through its commitment to education, adding that aside from celebrating and rewarding the winners, it is a way of immortalizing the legacy of Felix Ohwerei in promoting quality education.
She urged interested participants to obtain application forms from the Maltina website , or pick up a form from their state ministry of education or the Nigerian Union of Teachers office nationwide before July 22, 2024.
“This is why we are committed and very happy to commence our annual search for the best secondary school teacher in Nigeria with the Call for Entry commencing on May 16, 2024 and closes on July 19, 2024. The award ceremony of the teacher of the year and other qualifying teachers would be revealed on October 11, 2024. Ever since this initiative started, we have had 8242 participants, 5542 valid entries, 241 teachers recognised, 74 communities impacted, 3200 students received counselling. She revealed the varieties of the award categories with mouth-watering prizes which is a heartfelt tribute to inspire individuals who have significantly influenced the educational journey of the Nigerian child.
“The winner will receive a total cash prize of 10 million Naira as his/her reward, in addition to a trophy. He/she also receives a capacity development training while his/her school receives either a block of classroom or a computer laboratory. The first runner up receives a trophy and 3 million naira, the second runner up receives a trophy and 2.5 million naira, all state champions are rewarded with recognition plaques and a cash prize of 1 million naira each,” she said.
Several notable leading brands have also affirmed their unwavering support towards the living changing initiative as partners, noting that the vision of Nigerian Breweries on Maltina Teacher of the Year competition aligns with theirs. These include FCMB, WoodHall Capital, Union Bank Alert Group amongst others.
