Loeries creates heaven for creativity

With just a month before entry deadline on May 15 for Loeries 2018, Loeries Africa Middle East has hinged the campaign for 40th edition of the loeries awards on creative heaven.

The campaign line, Eternal Greatness Awaits, provides inspiration for members of the advertising and brand communication industry across Africa and the Middle East to enter Loeries 2018 and earn a place in Creative Heaven by winning a Loerie.

The campaign, conceptualised by Grid Worldwide Branding, asks where does good creative work go? Does it go into an annual? On the Ads of the World site? Or does it become a trophy on a shelf? No. All good creative goes to heaven, Creative Heaven.

The weeklong event which comes up in August 2018 is open to all members of the advertising and brand communication industry across Africa and the Middle East. Entry deadline is 15 May 2018. All work entered must have flighted between 1 June 2017 and 31 May 2018.

Another interesting development in this year’s award is that Loeries is including points for Finalists in its Official Rankings across Africa and the Middle East. In the past, the Loeries only awarded points for Bronze awards and above. From 2018, ten Finalist points will be equivalent to one Bronze award, and Finalist points will be capped to a maximum of 30 Finalists – equivalent to 3 Bronze awards.

To encourage the teeming youths of Africa and the Middle East to take up career in the creative Facebook Challenge for Students termed ‘Hack for Good’ has been introduced This  challenge, which is free, gives students across Africa and the Middle East the opportunity to show the world there is no problem their creativity can’t solve. The best submission wins a Loerie and an all-expenses paid trip to Loeries Creative Week in August 2018, to collect the coveted award. Their work will also flight on Facebook and Instagram. Also, there is the Brand South Africa Young Creatives Award. There is no entry fee and two Gold Loeries and $5,000 cash for each two winner is up for grabs. All work entered must have been approved by the appropriate Brand Representative, and been commercially exposed (e.g. flighted, built, distributed, etc.) to a substantial audience.

Loeries Creative Week takes place in Durban South Africa from 16 to 19 August. The 2018 programme has been adjusted to help delegates get the most from their time. With MasterClasses on Thursday, the DStv Seminaron Friday, and awards this year on Friday andSaturday, everyone can experience the best the Festival has to offer.
