LCCI to reward Resilience, Excellence at awards

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) is set to reward firms and organisations for their resilience and excellence, notwithstanding the harsh operating environment in the country, at this year’s commerce and industry awards.

Dr. Nike Akande, president of the chamber, said the chamber decided to recognise and celebrate deserving corporate organisations that have made significant contributions to the advancement of the Nigerian economy.

Akande said that the yearly event will celebrate excellence, best practices in corporate governance, value-addition, backward integration, innovations, achievements, high standards of business and professional ethics with the theme: Lagos at 50: Celebrating the Heartbeat of Commerce in sub-Saharan Africa,

“As Lagos State clocks 50 this year, the commerce and industry award represents an appropriate platform for celebrating the achievements of outstanding corporate organisations and personalities who have kept the spirit of commerce and industry alive, not only in the state, but internationally”, he said.

The award aims to recognize, promote and celebrate private and public institutions operating in Nigeria for best business practices, growth through innovations, business sustainability and positive impact on the people and society. LCCI is partnering with CMC Connect-Burson Marsteller, a perception management consulting firm to organise this year’s awards.

Group Managing Director of CMC Connect-Burson Marsteller, Yomi Badejo-Okusanya, said the firm is partnering with the LCCI to promote growth and excellence across the various sectors of the economy as well as inspiring emerging businesses, entrepreneurs and indigenous enterprises.

“The desire to do more necessitated the partnership. The nomination process will be unveiled, even as we hope to involve other chambers of commerce in the sub-Saharan African region to participate in the awards ceremony”, he added.
