LBS appoints Ogbechie as Dean

After 8 years of being a member of the Lagos Business School (LBS) Management Board and more than 4 months after his appointment as deputy dean, Professor Chris Ogbechie, renowned scholar in the field of strategic management, has been appointed as dean of Lagos business school.

The appointment was announced on Thursday, November 26, by Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Juan Elegido. Ogbechie is to succeed Enase Okonedo, professor of management, whose 11 year tenure ends on the first day of January, 2021.

The Manchester University graduate has exercised his dexterity on various platforms such as consulting work with Nigerian, Ghanaian and Kenyan firms, notably Head of Marketing/Sales at Nestle Nigeria. He has served on the boards of corporations including Diamond Bank Plc, Express Plc (FedEx), Red Star, National Salt Company of Nigeria Plc. (NASCON), Health Partners and Palton Morgan Holdings.

In academics, Ogbechie boasts of publications in reputable national and international journals, conference papers and books. He is the founding Director of the Sustainability Centre at LBS; where he teaches strategy, sustainability and corporate governance and also Strathmore Business in Nairobi, Kenya. His research interests are in strategy in turbulent environments, strategic leadership, board effectiveness, and corporate sustainability.

Professor Ogbechie has a first-class honours degree in Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University, an MBA from Manchester Business School and a PhD in Business Administration from Brunel Business School in the UK.
