Funke Nwankwo becomes APCON Fellow

Renowned marketer, Funke Nwankwo, has added an elevated professional status to her cap, when she was inducted into the fellowship cadre of the advertising profession at the recently held Induction ceremony conducted by Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON).

The newly inducted fellow gladly said: “All glory to God and thank you to all my bosses & colleagues that presented the platform to learn, unlearn and re-learn through my career journey. I am grateful! More grace to continue to have significant impact, supporting the younger generation for success.”

Funke Nwankwo is a seasoned professional with almost three decades’ experience in Marketing Communications, Media & Brands Strategy, Events and Public Relations. Funke spent most of her career in some of the foremost Advertising Agencies in Nigeria but recently embraced the challenge of working in the public sector for a robust work experience. She is currently the DGM, Communication & Public Relations at Niger Delta Power Holding Company Ltd (NDPHC) where she brings to bear her experience in Strategic Communication & Brand Management on the overall brand image, positive outlook and reputation of the company. She also had a stint of running her own Marketing Communications business- Streamfield Consulting Ltd.

With core competence in strategy and brands communications; having worked in leading Agencies such as Insight Communications, SO&U Saatchi & Saatchi, Wetherheads Advertising etc. Funke brings to bear a robust approach to strategic brands management/Corporate Communications/PR and a 360-degree insight on all levels of communications effort.

Funke holds a Master’s degree in Industrial &Organizational Psychology from the University of Ibadan and has attended various trainings and relevant workshops both home and the abroad. She has in view Executive Master of Business Administration degree from the University of South Wales, UK.

She is a member of APCON, NIMN, WIMBIZ & NIPR. She served on various committees (vetting & compliance) for Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and in various capacities on the board of Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).

Funke is passionate about impacting the lives of young people positively especially young girls by restoring lost family and societal values through mentoring programs, speeches at fora/ one-to-one interactions etc. because the moral decadence among the youth in our society is of great concern to her.
