FrieslandCampina WAMCO acquires Nutricima for stellar growth

FrieslandCampina WAMCO has announced the acquisition and takeover of Nutricima’s production facility in Ikorodu, Lagos State. Nutricima is a diary company and the maker of Olympic, Coast and Nunu, a range of powdered, evaporated and ready-to-drink milk brands.

Commenting on the acquisition and takeover, President of FrieslandCampina Consumer Dairy, Roel van Neerbos, said: “FrieslandCampina WAMCO has been a key player in Nigeria since 1954. With this acquisition, we demonstrate our strong commitment to Nigeria and its dairy market.”

Also commenting, Managing Director of FrieslandCampina WAMCO Nigeria, Mr. Ben Langat, said: “It is our mission to bring affordable and attainable quality dairy products to all Nigerians and meet the growing demand. That’s why we are pleased with this acquisition.”

Mr. Langat noted that operations have commenced at the newly acquired plant.

The acquisition is expected to satisfy the need for additional production capacity for FrieslandCampina WAMCO to meet the growing demand for locally produced evaporated and powdered milk by Nigerian consumers.

Recall that PZ Cussons Nigeria held an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) with its shareholders in July this year, on how it would transact the sale of Nutricima Limited to FrieslandCampina. The board of directors reportedly agreed on the sale and transfer of Nutricima production plant to FrieslandCampinaWamco Nigeria Plc of all the portion of land measuring approximately 67,733.235 square meters, alongside all rights and investment interests in the buildings and improvements.

Nutricima Limited was founded in Nigeria in 2005 and has, since then, earned itself consumer awareness within the dairy industry.
