Former Airtel Director, Obinna Aniche, 3 others joins AAAN

Former Vice President/Director – Brand & Marketing Communications at Airtel Nigeria, Obinna Aniche, is now a member of the advertising agencies association of Nigeria (AAAN) following the recent induction of his agency Outori Limited and three other advertising agencies at the AAAN secretariat.

The induction, which was conducted by the executives of AAAN last October, marks a major career shift for Aniche, who resigned from Airtel Nigeria last year, after a very successful career in marketing on the clients’ side, to set up Outori, alongside a couple of big names in the marketing communications industry in Nigeria.

Other agencies that equally joined the ranks of AAAN along with Outori are 1201 Broadway Limited, headed by Shokanmi Da Silva, formerly of Insight Communications, Dijo Communications, headed by Innocent Oboh and Seskay Marketing Communication Limited, anchored by Sanmi Omiata.

Outori offers services such as experiential marketing, sponsorship planning, digital marketing, content marketing and media consulting. And while Aniche will be leading the charge at Outori as President, he will be ably supported by the experience and professionalism of Wale Olagundoye, a former Managing Director at EXP Marketing, who has been named MD at Outori. Another top name on Outori team is Dele Anifowoshe, Vice President, Client Management.

Though a new agency, Outori boasts of a brand portfolio that covers several sectors. Some of the top brands it works for according to its website are Airtel, Smile, Dangote Foundation, Malboro, Bond Cigarette, Ogun State Government among others.

Coming at time of economic recession, when many existing agencies are struggling for survival, and some stakeholders have called for mergers and acquisition, observers are keen to see how Outori intends to navigate the stormy waters of the advertising and experiential marketing industry.

Speaking recently, The Managing Director of Advantage and President of Experiential Marketing Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) Rotimi Olaniyan, decried the slow pace of business in the industry, adding that there may have been a contraction in the industry this year compared with 2015, when the experiential marketing industry was said to be worth N30billion.

However, Dentsu Aegis Network CEO for Sub-Saharan Africa Dawn Rolands told MARKETING EDGE recently that marketing communications agencies can still thrive inspite of the recession, by thinking out of the box, and coming up with consumer engagement strategies that can contribute to brand growth.
