Expect employee unrest and joint actions in 2023- Mosron CEO

By Zion Rufus

In light of recent events which have sent tremors through the marketing communications industry, taking into consideration the mass migration, quiet quitting, mass firing, and the brain-drain currently prevalent in Nigeria, Tolulope Olorundero, CEO Mosron Communications has averred employee unrest and joint actions as some potential crisis area for businesses in 2023.

In planning for 2023, the communications consultant advised businesses to consider the impact of three critical activities in Nigeria that will directly impact business operations. These activities include the expected currency change in January, general elections in February, and the National Census scheduled to kick off in April.

According to Olorundero, businesses must anticipate the effect of these activities on operations, and the Communications team must be available to guide and support as required.

She pointed: “As more organisations right size their teams, and bow to increasing op-ex pressure to rebase staff salaries, there will be increased employee dissatisfaction, quiet quitting and joint demands on employers.”

It is also expected that human resource teams will have their hands full in 2023. On Olorundero’s report, as a proactive communications unit, your 2023 plans should include significant internal communications programs that will establish a sustainable communication approach that encourages feedback, not the current culture where internal comms is mostly for information dissemination; more frequent town halls; management transparency on business operations; and periodic CE engagements using video and audio media.
