Emeka Opara elevated as VP Airtel Africa

 

Emeka Oparah, has been elevated as Vice President, Corporate Communications & CSR, Airtel Africa Plc, in Dubai, UAE, to strengthen his delivery and operations with the African leading telecommunications brand.

The newly appointed VP has over 25 years of consistent communications practice spanning journalism, advertising, public relations, events, sponsorships and corporate social responsibility

In his new role, he will be Responsible for reputation and perception management including Public Relations, Internal Communications, Media Relations, Corporate Events and Sponsorships, Social Media Management and Crisis Management.

Elated, the new VP shared on his social platform: “From Nigeria to Africa…!!!Today, after 19 and a half years in Airtel Nigeria, I formally assumed a new position in Dubai, UAE, as the Vice President Corporate Communications & CSR, Airtel Africa Plc, with responsibility for 14 countries. To all who supported me along the way as I journeyed in my career, I will forever be in debt of gratitude.

Prior to his new position, he held the post of a director of the same Airtel Nigeria, managing the team and responsible for Public Relations, Internal Communications and Corporate Social Responsibility, having dedicated a valuable 19 years to this designation.

The communication expert was also the vice President, Corporate Communications & CSR. There he was managing the corporate reputation of Airtel Nigeria with responsibility for Public Relations, Internal Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Crisis Management. Member, Executive Council.

He became the Head, corporate communications, Zain Nigeria, where he was saddled with the responsibility to act as spokesman of the company and present the company’s position on all issues at all public events as delegated by the CEO, and to manage the company’s relationship with the media across the various media platforms; develop strategies to leverage the company and its activities in the media and consistently engage the media as lead channel for external communication and other portfolios to his baton of leadership.

To liaise with HR in implement programmes that will enhance effective cross-functional collaborations and engender team spirit

The former Airtel Nigeria director, was once Head of Division: PR, Events & Sponsorships, Celtel Nigeria, acting as spokesman of the company and defended the company’s position on all issues at all public for a, develop strategies for the management of the company’s media relations and publicity.

The PR expert held the position of Public Relations Manager, in his role as an adviser to management on the role of communication and PR in building and managing the reputation of the company and liaising synergistically with other departments in the projection of the company’s strategies, plans and objectives, in line with its vision, mission and values.

Before this, he was the Public Relations Manager of Vmobile.  The marketing guru is a product of the renowned  Management School, London, where he bagged a Diploma in International public relations and a proud graduate of University of Nigeria Nsukka, as a mass communication expert.

The Airtel spokesman is passionate with his  involvement  in Volunteer experience where he led in the Employee Volunteer Scheme
