Dangote Cement’ll revolutionize our economy, says Congolese President
President Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo Brazzaville has said that Dangote Cement will greatly help in changing the phase of the country’s economy as well as serve as a catalyze for growth in the continent.
Nguesso disclosed this during the inauguration of the company’s 1.5mtpa capacity cement plant in Mfila describing the coming of Dangote Cement as timely and encouraging.
According to him, the plant was starting operations at a time when the government’s revenues have plummeted by 31.3 per cent and revenues from the oil sector have fallen 65.1 per cent since 2015 due to a slide in global crude prices.
The new plant estimated at $300 million has potentials for about 1000 direct employment and thousands of several other indirect jobs.
Undoubtedly the biggest plant in Congo, Nguesso, while inaugurating the plant, said his country was happy to host the investment.
The President further said that his government has observed the operations of Dangote Cement in other African countries and it has helped to buoy their economies by sparking off other allied industries.
President Muhammadu Buhari, who was represented at the event by a delegation led by the Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, hailed Alhaji Aliko Dangote and his cement company for championing economic renaissance of Africa with the construction of cement plants across several African countries.
He said the sterling accomplishment makes the Dangote Cement brand, and indeed Aliko Dangote himself, worthy ambassadors of Nigeria.
