DAAR honors Shobanjo, Okeke

Foremost advertising practitioner and Chairman of Troyka Holdings, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo has been  honored with a Life Time Achievement Award at the second edition of the DAAR Awards.

The organizers of the awards  also conferred the Outstanding Leadership in Advertising Award on the Managing Director, Media Fuse Dentsu Aegis Network Nigeria, Mr. Emeka Okeke.

Both advertising heavy weights were recognized for their immense contributions to the growth and development of advertising within and outside the shore of Nigeria.

Shobanjo was  recognized for his remarkable contributions to the development of the advertising industry in Africa while Okeke got the acclaim due to his contribution to the advertising practice in the country.

Mr. Biodun Shobanjo is a quiet philanthropist and public spirited business leader, Mr. Shobanjo in Feb 2010, was inaugurated as the First Ambassador-General of Mass Medical Mission (MMM) of the National Cancer Prevention Programme (NCPP); and in 2008, was the CEO of the first and only edition of The Apprentice Africa, which aired in 6 African countries. In October 2013, he was awarded Advertising Man of All Time by The Sun Publishing Limited.

His other accolades and awards include Most Influential Personality in Advertising in Africa, by African Development Magazine (ADM) Award of Excellence in Development, Manager of the Year Award 2015, by the Europe Business Assembly, in recognition of his significant input to the success of Troyka Group.

On the 18th December 2015, Biodun Shobanjo’s dream of turning Troyka into a global player was fulfilled, when an equity partnership agreement was signed between Troyka and Publicis Groupe, giving Publicis Groupe equity partnership in the marketing communications arm of Troyka- Insight Redefini. In July, 2016, he was awarded the 2015 Zik Prize in Professional Leadership by the Advisory Board of the Public Policy Research and Analysis Centre (PPRAC); in recognition of his outstanding achievements and immense contributions to the development and growth of the Marketing Communications Industry and the Nigerian economy.

Meanwhile, Emeka Okeke, Group CEO – MediaFuse Dentsu Aegis Network has over twenty years experience spanning across the media, creative and media agencies in West African sub-region.

Emeka’s career cuts across institutions and networks like The Triumph Newspapers Kano, Advertising Techniques Ltd, Insight-Grey Advertising, All Seasons MediaCom Nigeria, Premier MediaCom Ghana, Media Perspectives Nigeria, Media Fuse Ltd and presently Media Fuse Dentsu Aegis Network where he has worked in various professional capacities.

During this period, Emeka has rendered services in various capacities to local and international clients in both Nigeria and across the West Africa sub-region. Such clients include Procter & Gamble, GSK, MTN, Barclays Bank, Nokia, Pepsi–Cola, BAT, Zain Mobile, Access Bank, Vitafoam, ARM Pensions, Nigerian Breweries/ Heineken to mention a few.
