Cold Stone Creamery debunks false media reports

Nigeria’s leading ice cream brand, Cold Stone Creamery has confirmed to be false media reports that the company caused the death of a staff and also detained his mother.
Proper investigations into the matter currently making its rounds on social media have revealed that the allegations are false.
Following an audit, Cold Stone discovered that some of its employees had committed fraud against the Company in one of its Lagos State outlets.
Specifically, this employee in question had allegedly diverted sales proceeds and transferred the same into his personal account instead of the Company’s account.
Cold Stone reported that the matter was immediately handed over to the Police. After the establishment of a prima facie evidence, the suspect was taken to Court to be charged.
According to feedback from the Police, the suspect absconded from the courtroom through the assistance of his mother.
“We hope this clarification sets the issues right as we enjoin that all further enquiries be directed to the Nigeria Police,” ColdStone said in a statement shared with MARKETING EDGE.
This clarification follows a report by a Facebook user Ife Tiwa, who in the early hours of Friday 11th, March 2023, claimed her brother, a staff of the quick service restaurant, was unlawfully arrested and killed.
Additionally, Ife Tiwa also claimed that following her brother’s death, her mother was detained.
