BOI to invest N1b in fashion industry

The Bank of Industry (BOI) recently announced a new initiative to invest in and support fashion entrepreneurs with over one billion naira in partnership with Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN).

This announcement was made on the first day of the Africa Fashion Week 2016 which held at the Eko hotels and suites, Victoria Island in Lagos. Designers that featured at this year’s edition were veteran fashion designer Modela, Rois and Reine, headline designer Ade Bakare, Tiannah Styling, Elegant Kids, Yomi Casual, Trisho o. Couture, Lanre Lagos, Mc Stell Fashion Gallery, Bello I. Edu, Pacciro, amongst others.

Nigerian afro-pop singer and face of this year’s edition, Yemi Alade, also launched her own fashion line named House of Tangerine.

The event which was tagged, ‘Shop and Wine: The Tech Style’ also saw the launch of Ethnic.ng.

On the sidelines of AFWN 2016, Nigeria’s Next Top Designer season 2 was held on the eve of the gala night and saw McStell Fashion House coming top. In this regard, the fashion designer and will get sponsorship to showcase at the Africa Fashion Week London in September.
