AAAN President becomes Vice Chairman, Group CEO of Casers Group

President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN), Mr. Ikechi Odigbo, has been named Vice Chairman/Group Managing Director of Casers Group/DDB West & Central Africa.

Until his new appointment, the AAAN president was the Managing Director of DDB Lagos. Ikechi Odigbo who began early his advertising career with Casers Group some three decades ago is an accomplished professional.

Mr. Ikechi Odigbo is an experienced advertising professional with many quality works to his credit in the Nigerian Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) industry.

He rose through the ranks at DDB Lagos to become its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer by dint of hard work and diligence. Odigbo also sits on the Board of the Casers Group as the Vice Chairman.

He currently oversees the DDD Lagos Agencies within the Casers Group, covering seven markets across West and Central Africa, including Nigeria, Cameroun, Congo, cote d’ivoire, Guinea, Benin republic and Guinea-Bissau. His mandate is to transform DDB into the best and biggest builder of brands in Nigeria.

He became the Executive Creative Director of the agency in 2003 and got elevated to the position of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) in 2007.

He was appointed the Managing Director in 2010 with responsibility to transform the company into a cutting-edge agency that builds great brands in Africa.

His core management strength is in organisational strategy and building high performance teams. He is an executive member of the Advertising Standards Panel.

Odigbo’s professionalism and pedigree remain primus inter pares in the history and histrionics of the Nigerian advertising business.

His management acumen and creative leadership has ushered in a seamless succession exercise that remains a reference point in the annals of agency business in Nigeria.

He has over 30 years of experience with various roles in account management and creative direction of leading brands in Nigeria.

This iconic professional and integrated marketing communications egghead attended Harvard Business School, United State of America where he studied General Management Program in 2007.

He is a graduate of the University of Calabar and is a member of several bodies, including CPAfrica and Quest Search & Selection, amongst others.

A 1986 graduate of University of Calabar, and General Management alumnus of Harvard Business School, London Business School and Warwick Business School, Ike began his advertising career 30 years ago as a Copywriter.

He is an innovations professional with a 3-lane brand building experience in General Management, Brand Management and Creative Development. Ike’s core strengths are in creative strategy, organisational strategy, and building high performance teams.

Under Ike’s leadership as ECD, DDB rose to creative dominance as a top 3 creative Agency, and under his watch as COO, the Agency won the DDB Worldwide Impact Award for Operational Innovation in 2010. As CEO for the past 8 years, DDB Lagos has been consistently rated a top 8 agency based on the global staff VOICE survey conducted annually by PwC across DDB Agencies in over 196 countries.

Presently Ike has a mandate to drive agencies growth across West and Central Africa as the Group Managing Director of DDB and Vice Chairman of the Casers Group.

Recent honours conferred on him include the Marketing World, Creative Industry Leader for 2014; Marketing Edge, Creative Industry Personality for the year 2015 and most recently, Marketing Edge, Advertising Personality for the year 2017.

Ike is the current President of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN); the recent past Chairman of the Lagos Advertising and Ideas Festival (LAIF Awards); a past member of the Advertising Standards Panel, APCON, and serving Chairman of the board of the SPV OMNICOM consortium for MTN Nigeria.

An avid lover of football, comedy and travelling, Ike’s passion points include helping to vision and nurture Kingdom and youth development initiatives.

He is happily married to Tolu, and they are blessed with three lovely children.
