Airlines deploy bill-board advertising to woo passengers
Air travel patronage in the country may have received a boost following the deployment of digital, poster and other kinds of bill-boards by local airlines to woo customers.
When MARKETING EDGE visited the Murtala Murtala Muhammed Airport, Domestic Terminal 2 (MMA2) and the General Aviation Terminal 1 (GAT) terminals at the weekend, there was a display of airfare in various bill-boards, ostensibly to woo passengers.
It was gathered that since the deployment of these bill-boards, there had been increase in patronage as well as increase in product sale by retailers who operate their businesses at the airport.
At MMA2, Dana Air displayed its fare slash promo on the digital board at the airport which read:“Fly Dana Air as low as N9,000”; AZMAN Air also showcased its fare on the same platform.
Apart from the airlines, most brands at the airport also use the poster bill-board, or other forms of electronic media to advertise their products and services, all aimed at boosting sales.
According to a passenger, Mr. James Okunbor, the bill-boards which were strategically placed at the airport have succeeded in making the passengers to be aware of airfare and other available services and their rates.
Okunbor noted that most times he patronize airlines with cheaper fare having gotten the information through such firms’ bill-boards advertisement.
He said:”I think displaying airfares on the bill-board is another strategy used by the airlines to woo passengers, probably because of competition. It is a good development because it gives customers the chance to make good choices and spend wisely”
