When Union Bank brought India Arie to Nigeria for Sax Appeal
Sponsored by Union Bank of Nigeria Plc, the fifth edition of Sax Appeal, the biggest jazz concert in the country was held last Sunday at the Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, Lagos.
Headlining the event was four-time Grammy Award winning singer, India Arie, who arrived Nigeria two days to the event.
According to the organizers, the event aims to reach the heart of music lovers around the world by providing quality live performances from talented artistes. It has over the years witnessed live performances from renowned music artistes including Kenny G, Jessy Jay, Yolanda Brown, amongst others.
Speaking after Union Bank welcomed the American soul/folk singer to Lagos, Ogochukwu Ekezie-Ekaidem, Head of Corporate Affairs & Corporate Communication, Union Bank of Nigeria Plc., explained why the bank decided to sponsor the event: “Union Bank has a long history and strong heritage in Nigeria including one of supporting the Arts. This we do because we recognise our customers and Nigerians in general are passionate about creativity in all its forms. We are especially pleased to be a part of this event with quality Nigerian talents such as Mike Aremu performing and we welcome India Arie to Nigeria.”
Other artistes that performed at this year’s event included Mike Aremu, Praiz and Timi Dakolo.
