PZ Wilmar Creates 5000 Jobs, Launched First Promo

Mr. Santosh Pillai, the Managing Director of PZ Wilmar, the joint venture between PZ Cussons and Wilmar International, said that the company has provided more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs in Nigeria.

Speaking during the Devon King’s Cruise Promo, which is the company’s first national promotional event, Pillai said the joint venture investment in vegetable oil refinery and palm oil plantation stood at over N15bn and had been very rewarding, resulting in direct and indirect employment for Nigerians.

“Our brands became market leaders due to the close association with our distributors. We don’t look at them as distributors but partners in progress to make King’s and Mamador a leading brand in the country. This promo is our way of appreciating their contribution to our business, though it’s a small token, to say that we are here together and will grow together.”

He noted that through its teeming partners, the company had created strong presence for the brand nationwide and consumers did not have to wait five to six months for the importation of the brand again since the company three years ago invested $75m to set up a factory in Ikorodu for the production of King’s and Mamador.

Speaking on behalf of the trade partners, the Operations Manager of Ocean Trans & Trading, Tokunbo Akinwotu, expressed his appreciation to PZ Wilmar for encouraging and rewarding them, noting that the quality of the King’s brands had made it very easy to achieve the impressive sales target for the promo
