NSE Will Attract More Asian Investors

The Nonye Rajis-Okpara has stated that the Nigerian Stock Exchange will attract more investment from Asian countries, especially Singapore.

While pledging her support to the Exchange’s investment drive Rajis-Okpara, who spoke on the floor of the Exchange recently in Lagos, said the country’s equities market would benefit from Nigeria

She assured the Exchange of the envoy’s readiness to support NSE to expand into Singapore and Asia as a whole.

She also hailed the resilience of the country’s financial institutions, which enabled them to recover from the 2008/2009 financial crisis and commended the Exchange for the progress it made since then.

“The primary function of the capital market is to help provide liquidity by giving sellers a place to liquidate their shareholdings. Thus, the NSE has become a prominent exchange while the Nigerian financial sector has revived the task of the transformation agenda of the Federal Government,” Rajis-Okpara said.

Speaking further on the Exchange, she said the progress achieved was as a result of the significant progress made in terms of transparency, ethics, integrity and professionalism.

She added that the NSE made history to become the first African stock exchange to join the inter-market surveillance group, pointing out its admission as a full member of the World Federation of Exchanges.

The Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oscar Onyema, thanked Rajis-Okpara for her support and efforts in making Exchange’s road show to Asia a success.
