NITDA sponsors Nigeria to join CES 2021 tech startups

As part of the commitment of National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Nigeria, for the first time, has joined the tech world in showcasing its tech ability at the 2021 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) exhibition, a platform where the world’s biggest brands meet for business, new partners, and the best innovators.

The startups, which is sponsored by NITDA with the supervision of the Honourable Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, is said to depict Nigeria’s enriched achievement in technology sector and also with the opportunity to elevate the country’s potential investors and attract Foreign Direct Investment.

The startups sponsored by NITDA among others includes Vinsighte, which is a digital health startup that make use of Artificial Intelligence and assistive technology to prevent visual impairment and aid the visually impaired to live more comfortable lives; Traceroot, a facial recognition solution that aids law enforcement accurately identify criminal suspects, and Powerstove Energy, a mission is to replace dirty and expensive lighting and cooking solutions with sustainable energy alternatives.

Director-General/CEO of NITDA, Mallam Inuwa Kashifu Abdullahi, while commenting on the new development, said Nigeria is committed to fostering the development of emerging technologies and positioning the country which is the economic hub of Africa for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Abdullahi was of the opinion that information technology is key to meaningful reforms even in the public service.

The Nigerian Participation at CES 2021 is being organised by Digital Africa Global Consult Ltd in partnership with Compumetrics Solutions Ltd.

The event is always a massive in-person networking. It was gathered that CES typically attracts more than 100,000 attendees. The 2020 exhibition was spread across 2.9 million square feet of exhibit space.
