NIPR to discuss Artificial Intelligence at Lagos digital summit

Stakeholders and Public Relations practitioners will gather at the Sheraton Hotels, Lagos between October 17-18 to deliberate on the future of the PR industry in Nigeria and the role of technology and artificial intelligence in it.

The event is the Third edition of the Lagos National Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) summit.  The theme of the summit is ‘The Future of the Communication Professional: Artificial Intelligence, Augmented Reality, Machine Learning and Data Driven Content’

The two-day event is opened to ‘Generation X’ and millennia managing communications for government; corporate, media and non-governmental organizations to equip and expose them to contemporary technologies and glean new insights into the fast-growing digital media space for modern-day strategic communication practice.

The Chairman of the Chapter, Olusegun McMedal, said: “The third digital PR summit is designed to demystify the concept of machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI). With thousands of companies looking to incorporate AI into their brand strategy, this technology is already a major industry disruption.

“However, the combination of human intelligence and AI capabilities is a great pairing and can lead to more informed decisions in all aspects of business, it is important that public relations practitioners are better integrated for the burgeoning digital media ecosystem”.

According to him, the summit is in partnership with Microsoft, ID Africa, Facebook, WhoGoHost, Biteesize, Techcity, I-Octane Digital Interactive, and Blueflower.

“There will be lectures, discussions, simulations exercises and case studies to equip participants with the know-how to drive positive impact in their organizations. Participants will earn a Certificate of Participation and the honorary Lagos Digital PR Ambassadorship” he added.

The Lagos Digital PR Summit is a two-day experiential gathering of hundreds of Generation X and Millennial communicators, marketers and social media professionals from agencies, B2B, B2C, non-profit, small businesses, students and government organizations focused on achieving collective intelligence to equip and capacitate them with high-level digital media strategies, tactics and how-to’s so they can do their jobs better, train their teammates, and lift their campaign results on social media.

Globally, over two billion people are now on social media and the average user spends nearly two hours a day on the platforms. Studies have shown that three out of four consumers say social media impacts their buying decisions. For sure, these trends will continue as internet penetration increases and more and newer social patterns emerge.
