Nigeria’s President Tinubu urges media support to boost investor confidence
Nigeria’s President, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has called on the media to support efforts in projecting the country positively, with the aim to boost investor confidence and spur economic development.
Represented by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the 19th All Nigeria Editors Conference in Uyo, the President who restated the importance of media houses to fostering nation building, urged continuous positive media coverage to attract essential investments.
During the conference, ANEC Chairman Sam Amuka-Pemu also emphasized the need for editors to adapt to evolving news delivery landscapes, combat fake news, and address ethical concerns like AI manipulations.
The Chairman stressed the media’s accountability role and the significance of fearless reporting. The event explored the theme “Stimulating Economic Growth, Technological Advancement: Role of The Media,” with discussions on the future of digital journalism and the impact of AI on global economies.
Cross River’s Commissioner for Information, Erasmus Ekpang, also urged editors to fulfill constitutional responsibilities and remain vigilant against AI’s potential intrusion in creating fictional narratives.
