MultiChoice Nigeria has unveiled new DStv and GOtv subscription packages designed to simplify customer choices, improve value for money and widen access to entertainment, with the revised offerings scheduled to take effect on November 5, 2026. The new packages form part of MultiChoice Nigeria’s simplified ‘Expect More’ offering for DStv and GOtv subscribers, under the company’s ownership by CANAL+.

The announcement was made at a press briefing at MultiChoice Nigeria’s headquarters in Victoria Island, Lagos, where executives explained how the revised packages would give subscribers greater choice and better value through options tailored to their viewing preferences.

Under the new structure, DStv subscribers will choose from Starter, Select, Sports and Premium, while GOtv customers will have Easy, Starter, Select and Sports. The changes align with CANAL+’s broader strategy to create a simpler, more customer-focused entertainment offering across its markets.

Kemi Omotosho, CEO of MultiChoice Nigeria, said the packages reflect changing viewing habits and the company’s drive to give subscribers greater flexibility in choosing content that matches their interests and budgets.

“Our focus is on giving subscribers better value and access to the entertainment they love,” Omotosho said, explaining that the revised offerings combine African entertainment, international productions and live sports to reflect how audiences consume content today.

She noted that MultiChoice’s integration into the CANAL+ Group had expanded its reach beyond its traditional Pan-African operations, creating opportunities to draw on a wider pool of content, technology and expertise. The new packages, she added, form part of a broader strategy to reinvigorate the subscriber base rather than an isolated product adjustment.

According to Omotosho, audiences now watch content through smart televisions, tablets, mobile phones and other connected devices, accessing entertainment through satellite, streaming and terrestrial platforms. This shift has made simplicity, affordability and choice central to the company’s revised subscription structure.

She said the previous range of packages could make it difficult for customers to remember their subscriptions or identify the option best suited to their needs. The new line-up creates a clearer progression from entry-level entertainment to broader programming, extensive football coverage and premium international content.

DStv Starter will cost N6,000 monthly and include two new channels: SuperSport KICKOFF and Africa Magic+. SuperSport KICKOFF will offer the Premier League Match of the Week and selected UEFA Champions League fixtures, while Africa Magic+ will feature Nigerian, African and international entertainment.

DStv Select, priced at N11,000 monthly, will provide movie channels, local and international series, selected football and other sports, as well as the full kids’ channel line-up. The package is designed for households seeking a broader mix of entertainment and selected sporting events.

For sports enthusiasts, DStv Sports will cost N21,000 monthly and provide every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match, alongside WWE and UFC programming. Subscribers will also receive all general entertainment channels available on Select, combining extensive live sports with movies, series and other entertainment.

DStv Premium will offer the most comprehensive line-up, combining all content available on Sports with additional competitions, including Formula 1, MotoGP, Grand Slam tennis and golf majors. It will also retain international series on M-Net for viewers seeking premium entertainment alongside major sporting events.

The new structure will make selected content available at more accessible price points, while allowing subscribers to move to higher packages as their viewing needs change.

Alongside the subscription changes, MultiChoice is refreshing its movie channels with M-Net Movies+, M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends. M-Net Movies 1 and M-Net Movies 2 will be consolidated into M-Net Movies+, bringing blockbusters and new releases into a refreshed offering intended to improve access to films and reduce repetition.

Tope Oshunkeye, Senior Vice President at MultiChoice, said M-Net Stars and M-Net Legends would celebrate Hollywood stars, iconic performers and popular screen favourites, further broadening the movie experience available to subscribers.

Africa Magic Family will also be rebranded as Africa Magic+. According to Oshunkeye, the refreshed channel will combine local and international series with children’s programming, music and other entertainment, including content from South America. He noted that the  channel changes form part of MultiChoice’s effort to refresh its programming while making a wider range of entertainment available across different subscription levels.

According to him, GOtv customers will also move to the revised line-up on November 5, with Easy, Starter, Select and Sports replacing the existing package structure. MultiChoice said the changes would follow the same principles guiding the DStv revamp, including simpler choices, improved value and programming suited to local audiences.

Oshunkeye highlighted expanded access to football and other entertainment as part of the revised offer.

MultiChoice is also maintaining its hardware promotion to help new customers connect to its services. Under the offer, customers can purchase a DStv or GOtv decoder, a full installation kit and one month of an entry-level subscription for N15,000.

DStv Stream will remain available as a standalone service, with subscriptions starting from N6,000. Omotosho also highlighted complimentary access to DStv Stream among the benefits associated with the new offering.

The November 5 rollout represents a broader adjustment to MultiChoice’s subscription strategy as the company responds to changing audience preferences and seeks to improve access to live sports, films, series and African productions across its platforms.
