Modakeke Advancement Initiative commissions first community-based Free Clinic

Modakeke Advancement Initiative, a not-for-profit organization has commissioned its first community-based clinic which will provide medical aid to the residents of its host community, Modakeke at no cost.
Formed by a group of well-meaning individuals from Modakeke, a historic town in Osun State which has been plagued by intra-ethnic conflict, the Modakeke Advancement Initiative was introduced in 2020 to render humanitarian services and societal development, with the aim to empower both indigenes and non-indigenes of the town economically, and social-politically.
While noting that the outdoor patient health Clinic was birthed following a review of the town’s economic situation, Engr. Wale Olanrewaju, Chairman, Modakeke Advancement Initiative while delivering his opening remark at the commissioning of the Clinic in Modakeke on 19th March 2022, stated that the idea was to provide a platform where less privileged people, both indigenes and non-indigenes will have immediate access to basic medical aids and counselling free for all.
Backed by members in the diaspora, MAI will promote healthy living in the community, ensure infrastructural development, promote industrialization, improve personnel and human capacity development, and more importantly, ensure peaceful co-existence in the community and support every good cause in the land.
Regarded as the oldest intra-ethnic conflict in Nigeria, Modakeke which has existed as a town for more than two hundred and fifty years, and Ile-Ife, the cradle of Yoruba race has been at war for almost two centuries as a result of land and boundary issues, debate about sovereignty, territorial disagreements, cultural identity, economics and politics, creation of local government, and location of its headquarters amongst others.
Meanwhile, the Clinic, which has already attended to over 200 patients since its creation, is currently staffed with a Medical Doctor, 2 Registered Nurses, 1 Auxiliary Nurse and security personnel.
“This platform will also enable volunteer Medical practitioners to provide free consultation anytime they feel like during the operation hours. Different bodies and governments are also free to use the platform for Medical outreach so as to make the dream a reality (Providing basic health care at zero cost to people),” the Chairman said in his remark as he urged other well-meaning individuals to partner with the body for the sustenance of the Clinic.
