Outstanding Corporate Communications Personality of the Year
Her career trajectory, till date, very brilliantly reflects the immortal words of two distinguished historical figures – Lou Holtz who stated that “Ability is what you are capable of doing; Motivation determines what you do; while Attitude determines how well you do it”; and Jamie Dimon who admonished thus, “Have a fierce resolve in everything you do; Demonstrate determination, resiliency, and tenacity; Do not let temporary setbacks become permanent excuses; Use mistakes and problems as opportunities to get better – not for reasons to quit”.
Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami, MCIM, ANIPR, FNIMN, LLAWOMEN is the Head, Marketing and Communications at Stanbic IBTC Bank. She deservedly emerged winner in the Outstanding Corporate Communications Personality of the Year category at the recently held MARKETING EDGE Marketing and Advertising Awards of Excellence.
While commenting on her emergence as winner in that category, the MARKETING EDGE Awards Board stated, among other things, that her nomination and subsequent emergence as MARKETING EDGE OUTSTANDING CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR was a product of painstaking review and assessment of the Nigerian marketing, advertising and brand management environment,as well as her versatility and inspiring growth in the Corporate Communications sector where she has outstandingly distinguished herself for over a decade and half.The board stated that amongst all other individuals and personalities considered, she stood head over shoulders in the crowd.
Concluding, the Board commented that “Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami’s great strides at Stanbic IBTC Bank, which have resulted in good and great outcomes with impressive results for the bank’s stakeholders are testimonies to her renowned intellectual and proffesional pedigree.These have been largely manifested in the bank’s high equity rating and a major paradigm shift in image management.She has equally impacted positively and proactively in the bank’s strategic growth and corporate image development .Most of the bank’s product development, brand building, marketing and integrated marketing communications efforts attest to some of her in- puts.She is reputed to have made some significant contributions to the growth, development and continuing evolution of the Nigerian marketing communications businness.
It is on record that Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami is a passionate, detailed, Marketing and Corporate Communications expert; experienced Sponsorship specialist and Corporate Marketing strategist always with a passionate desire to proffer solutions, align processes in her areas of expertise and on a broader brand management scope.
Before rising to this position in January, last year, she had held, in the same bank, such positions as Acting Head, Marketing and Communications (July 2018-January, 2019), and Corporate Investment Banking Marketing Manager (May 2017-July, 2018).
In those positions, this corporate communications and brand management Amazon has led (and is leading) her team to build long term brand equity and financial success for her bank by: Developing and driving the execution of the brand’s corporate reputation, CSI and all business units’ marketing and communications startegies in alignment with Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC’s strategies.
Additionally, Bridget, as she is simply called, guides the internal and external reputation management of the bank; and provides in-country thought leadership on marketing and communications.
Before berthing at Stanbic IBTC, Oyefeso-Odusami was, for six years and seven months (between November, 2010 and May, 2017, to be specific), the Head of Sponsorship and Events at FirstBank of Nigeria, FBN.
In that capacity, she saw to the improvement of the bank’s overall strategy for sponsorship and events, including delivery of events within or under approved budgets; while ensuring delivery of contractual commitments.
Earlier, she had worked as an Executive Director at Change-A-Life; and, for nine long years, held various marketing and sponsorship positions at British Airways.
With a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany from Lagos State University, LASU, and a PGD in Business Administration from the University of Leicester, Bridget Oyefeso-Odusami is a member of several professional bodies, including but not limited to the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria, NIMN and the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, NIPR.
