Executive Order: We’ve implemented 60%, says FAAN’s MD
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has implemented about 60 per cent of the federal government’s executive order on the “Ease of Doing Business in Nigeria”, according to the managing Director of the agency
Disclosing this development while inspecting the level of compliance at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, the Managing Director, Mr. Saleh Dunoma, said that the agency was at various stages of the implementation of the executive order in conjunction with other security agencies and stakeholders at the airport.
Dunoma added that “We are here at the Murtala Muhammed Airport to look at the implementation of the executive order. We have met 60 per cent of the requirements needed in order to make sure the executive order is implemented”
“We have held series of meetings with the stakeholders. So far, every agency is working on certain aspects as it concerns them. But FAAN, the overall supervisor of the operations at the airport, is coordinating all this and, of course, FAAN has certain things to do. We need to improve on some certain infrastructure. This infrastructure is being put in place so that other participating agencies will find it easy to implement their bit of the executive order.” he added.
Commenting on the level of cooperation from other agencies, Dunoma said that all the agencies are cooperating with FAAN as all the agreement based on the executive order are being implemented.
“A lot of things are going to happen tomorrow, (today) because we expect that most of the implementation will be done tomorrow (today), Tuesday, June 6, 2017”
“We chose some timelines, that is, before the deadline given to us on the executive order, so that we can test run these systems and if there are issues, they will be corrected before the actual deadline given to us”, Dunoma said.
