Enterprise Life Nigeria’s CEO Funmilayo Omo joins CIIN’s Governing Council

Funmilayo Omo, the Managing Director/CEO of Enterprise Life Nigeria, has been elected as a member of the governing council of the prestigious Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN), solidifying her reputation as an accomplished insurance professional with over 30 years of industry experience.

Throughout her career, she has made significant contributions to the insurance sector, driving growth, innovation, and digital transformation within the companies she has served.

Before joining Enterprise Life Nigeria, Omo dedicated a significant portion of her career to African Alliance Insurance Plc. Her exceptional performance and leadership abilities led to her appointment as the Managing Director of the company in 2017.

During her tenure, she spearheaded the digital transformation of African Alliance Insurance, positioning the company at the forefront of the industry’s digital era. Through her efforts, she unlocked new growth opportunities and enhanced the company’s overall performance.

Her contributions also extend beyond digital transformation.

Omo played a pivotal role in the development and successful launch of microinsurance as a strategic business unit. Additionally, she pioneered the design of annuity products, elevating African Alliance Plc to become one of the top three market players in the industry.

She also led the design, modeling, and marketing of Takaful, serving as the pioneer Family Takaful Office in Nigeria.

With an impressive educational background, Omo is an alumna of the China European Business School and the Lagos Business School.

She is a chartered insurer and holds memberships in esteemed professional organizations such as the Institute of Directors (IOD), the Chartered Insurance Institute in London, the Certified Pensions Institute (Nigeria), and the Nigerian Institute of Management.

In addition to her extensive professional achievements, Funmilayo Omo actively contributes to various board positions.

She currently serves on the Board of Freedom Foundation and has previously held esteemed positions on the Boards of Ajaokuta Steel Complex, Axiom Air, National Iron Ore Mining Company (NIOMCO), Frenchies Food, and PAL Pensions Alliance. In 2019, she received the distinguished honor of being named one of the top 100 women CEOs in Africa by Reset Global People, a UN and Ghanaian Presidency initiative.
