For once, journalists and media practitioners living in Journalists Estate and other residents in the Arepo ,Ogun state border community were full of joy ,happinness and unimaginable excitement early this week as His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, the executive Governor of Ogun state unfolded life- changing infrastructural projects for them.
Indeed, it was an unforgettable occasion as the Governor conceded to the requests of the media practitioners in helping them complete their multi-purpose Civic Center which is currently under construction while bequeathing an ultra-modern Primary Health Center equipped with an Ambulance for the community and the entire Arepo indigenes.
The Civic center is purposed to accommodate a Gym, Squash center Shopping mall, football pitch and e- Library for use by the journalists. This was made known during the Governor’s media interaction with the members of the Fourth Estate of the Realm and all residents of Journalists Estate. The media interaction came shortly after the Governor commissioned the 2.5 kilometers Arepo- Journalists Estate Road in an elaborate ceremony which attracted high dignitaries and top politicians and traditional rulers in Ogun State and beyond.
Encomiums and accolades poured in for Governor Dapo Abiodun for making good his promise to turnaround the face of Arepo which had suffered immensely because of the dilapidated state of the road during the 8 year tenure of Governor Ibikunle Amosun administration in the state. It will be recalled that Governor Amosun left the road unattended for eight years notwithstanding claims that he had awarded the road to a Contractor. All what the residents could see on ground was Amosun’s road award billboards while the road remained a nightmare.
Wearing smiles and bearing good cheers, on Monday 14th November, 2022, residents of Arepo and elites of Arepo Journalists Estate gathered at the entrance gate of the community to welcome Prince Dapo Abiodun for the commissioning of the new 2.35km Arepo Road in Arepo, Obafemi Owode local government, Ogun State.
Prioritising construction, reconstruction, and rehabilitation of roads across the three senatorial districts of Ogun State, the genuineness of Abiodun’s administration was brought to light when he took on several roads projects abandoned midway by his predecessors, one of which is the 2.35km Journalist Estate Road in Arepo.
Owing to his numerous achievements, particularly in the area of infrastructural development, Abiodun who bagged the Marketing Edge Political Brand Personality of the Year Award in September, was graced with the Outstanding Leadership Award by residents of the Journalists Estate at a social gathering hosted by media practitioners in celebration of a promise kept.
