Damilola Owolabi Emerges Nigeria’s Best Young Brand Manager
One of Nigeria’s fastest growing brand managers Damilola Owolabi has again been honoured for his outstanding qualities and versatility as a brand and marketing management expert.
Owolabi was recently awarded the Young Brand Manager of the year at the recently held Marketing Edge Brands and Marketing Excellence Award 2016, which took place at Civic Centre, Lagos.
Reacting to the honour, he said, I feel honoured for receiving the award and this will further boost my drive and inspiration to be a pacesetter in brand and Marketing management business in Nigeria and gear up to position the brands I work on for success.
According to the organizers of the annual event, Marketing Edge, Owolabi won the award because of his many years of consistency and his result oriented marketing initiatives which has helped to reposition the various brands under the Deekay Group.
Owolabi is presently the Head Brands and Corporate Communications at Deekay Group which houses various brands including Nexus Home Appliances, Saisho Kitchen Appliances, Haano Food and Maple Leaf Press.
In this role, he is responsible for delivering high performance brand and marketing strategy and overall brand equity build for Deekay Group and its businesses in various subsidiary brands with over 30 SKU’s ranging from different sectors of high consumer preference. www.deekaygroup.com.
Over the years ‘Damilola has consulted for several Marketing Communications Agencies and Brands on strategic brand positioning and rebranding processes amongst other things.
His vast knowledge of the Nigerian consumer in all classes, his needs, wants and aspirations and also the unique media scene of Nigeria both traditional & new could not have but earned him his current position.
A law graduate turned brand strategist and communications expert, Owolabi has the unique privilege of having worked on both side of the marketing divide- on the agency side and also on the client side. He has previously worked with SO&U Saatchi & Saatchi and KFC Nigeria in various capacities.
