Change of guards at Insight Publicis

…as Feyi Olubodun becomes MD/CEO

Insight Publicis, a foremost and leading creative shop in Nigeria yesterday repositioned as it appointed the young and versatile Feyi Olubodun as its new managing director/chief executive officer.

Feyi Olubodun, a debonair, soft spoken and effervescent advertising wizkid takes over from the creative and client service superman, Mr. Jimi Awosika, aka Baale who unconfirmed industry sources say has been elevated as the Group CEO of the Troyka and Vice Chairman.

Baale until the latest elevation has been steering the ship of the leading ad-shop while overseeing other subsidiary businesses in the Troyka. He has piloted the affairs of the agency for over a decade now since the founder/owner and chairman, Mr. Biodun Shobanjo stepped down as chief executive officer of the company after over four decades of eventful career and outstanding management of the business.

The new chief executive officer, a B.Sc graduate of Psychology from Obafemi Awolowo University, has been tested and trusted to lead the agency into a new epoch as head of the frontier force in an increasingly competitive business environment.

This new change of guards is coming on the heels of the consummation of equity investment in Insight Communications by the Publicis Groupe, one of the biggest global agency networks almost nine months ago.

Since the consummation of the partnership deal, the agency has been deftly involved in restructuring, re-engineering, retooling and repositioning. It has been kneel-deep in realigning its operations, culture and modus operandi with that of the Paris based Publicis Group.

Since March when the relationship came into effect, there has been constant trainings going on at Insight and exchange programmes between Insight and its global partner. There have also been a few shake-ups too.

Before his recent appointment, Olubodun, who is now on vacation, served as the General Manager/Chief Operating Officer of the outfit for two years. Before then, he was for three years, the Strategic Planning Director of the company.

The new helmsman is an alumnus of the prestigious Lagos Business School where he acquired Senior Management Programme (SMP) degree and an MBA (Global Executive) General Management at the elite Duke University – The Fuqua School of Business. he also holds professional Diploma in Marketing of the Chartered Institute of Marketing amongst several degrees and qualifications.

Olubodun who passionately believes in his own competencies and inherent latent skills is an avid admirer of Juddi Krishnamurti; a philosopher and great writer born in the small town of madanapalle in Madras, Andhra Pradesh. His love for the writer can be seen on Feyi Olubodun’s facebook page where he inscribed for all his fans to see one of the philosopher’s most famous quote that resonate very well with his personae: “In oneself lies the whole world, and if you know how to look and learn, then the door is there and the key is in your hand. Nobody on earth can give you either the key or the door to open, except yourself.”

Mr. Olubodun, with this appointment, becomes the Third MD/CEO of the 36 year old agency. He is expected to lead the charge as the agency continues its transition from being a Nigerian agency to now being a part of a major global network with global responsibilities.

Olubodun is also expected to lead a new growth phase at Insight and help to further strengthen its brand leadership, especially in the face of stiff competition from some younger agencies.

Since his new appointment industry gurus, friends and associates have been sending their goodwill messages to the ebullient advertising practitioner.

Commenting on his appointment, Leke Tomiwa said “congrats on your new appointment. I wish you surpass the expectations and challenges that your new status puts forth and find pleasure at the same time. I pray that you stand out and shine just like the most brilliant star in the sky. May the Lord grant you wisdom to deliver. All eyes on you brother.”

In his own goodwill message, Mr. John Ajayi, Publisher/CEO, Marketing Edge Publications said, “you have been tested and trusted. You have been forged and fortified. You have no doubt become a wizkid and a genius of an uncommon pedigree and a protégé of a highly venerated order and era. This cap sure fits. Wishing you and your brand new team a very outstanding and distinguished sail in this new epoch as nature has put you at the helm at the agency’s current historical conjecture with the whole wide world now at your beck and call.”

In his own comment, Kolade Oyolola said, “felicitations Feyi, may the good Lord drive you along in this new position. May He continue to grant you His grace and protection”.
