Changan Automobile has deepened its international growth ambitions after appointing Ogilvy as its global strategic partner for social media management and website operations across key international markets.

Adobo magazine reported that the  partnership signals a major push by the Chinese automotive company to strengthen its global digital footprint, sharpen consumer engagement, and accelerate its rise within the highly competitive international automobile market.

Under the new collaboration, Ogilvy will oversee Changan Automobile’s global digital communications strategy across Europe, Latin America, the Middle East and Africa, as well as the Asia Pacific region. At the same time, the agency will coordinate integrated execution through its China operations alongside regional market teams.

The move also aligns directly with Changan Automobile’s aggressive international growth roadmap under its “Vast Ocean Plan 2.0,” a long term expansion strategy designed to significantly increase overseas sales and broaden the company’s global market presence by 2030.

Rather than merely extending market presence, Changan Automobile now aims to position itself as a stronger global automotive competitor capable of building lasting brand relevance across multiple continents.

Consequently, Ogilvy will deploy its globally connected operating framework built around what it describes as “One Team, One Platform, One Process,” a structure designed to unify brand execution, improve operational coordination, and deliver more consistent storytelling across markets.

Additionally, the agency plans to integrate artificial intelligence driven systems into the partnership in order to connect market intelligence, audience analysis, creative development, content production, localisation, and digital performance management through a single operating platform.

By combining local consumer insight with data powered creativity, Ogilvy intends to help Changan Automobile create more culturally relevant communication capable of connecting effectively with audiences in different regions.

The partnership will also support the management and optimisation of Changan Automobile’s global website ecosystem, while simultaneously improving customer experience, digital visibility, and audience interaction across platforms.

Speaking on the collaboration, Chris Reitermann, Chief Executive Officer of WPP Greater China and CEO of Ogilvy APAC and Greater China, said successful global brands are built through consistency, localisation, and continuous adaptation driven by technology and data intelligence.

According to him, the partnership will help Changan Automobile establish a brand identity that remains globally aligned while still reflecting the realities and preferences of local markets.

He added that Ogilvy’s international network, combined with WPP’s technological capabilities and AI powered infrastructure, would support the automobile company’s ambition to compete more effectively on the global stage.

Also commenting, Jack Yin, President of Ogilvy One China, described the engagement as an opportunity to connect strategy, creativity, research, content production, and performance optimisation within a single integrated framework.

He explained that the agency’s operating model would allow Changan Automobile to maintain stronger consistency in brand communication while simultaneously improving efficiency and measurable business outcomes across diverse international territories.

Beyond marketing communication, the collaboration further reflects the growing global confidence among Chinese automotive brands seeking stronger international recognition through innovation, technology, and more sophisticated brand building strategies.

As competition intensifies within the global electric and smart mobility market, partnerships such as this increasingly demonstrate how automobile manufacturers are investing not only in engineering and manufacturing capacity, but also in digital influence, consumer perception, and long term brand equity.

Ultimately, both companies appear focused on building more than visibility alone. Instead, the partnership positions Changan Automobile to pursue deeper global relevance through connected storytelling, technology enabled engagement, and stronger emotional connection with consumers across international markets.
