Cadbury Nigeria appoints Shami as new MD
Cadbury Nigeria Plc has appointed Mr. Muhammed Amir Shami as the new Managing Director of the company with effect from February 1, 2017. The firm disclosed this in a statement signed by the Director of Corporate and Government Affairs, Mr. Bala Yesufu; and Company Secretary, Mr. Fola Akande, to the Nigerian Stock Exchange.
Mr. Shami would be taking over from the incumbent Managing Director, Mr. Roy Naaman, whose resignation would be effective on January 31, 2017.
Shami, before his appointment, worked in Mondelez International as the Director, Innovation Kids Wholesome Global Biscuits, United States of America, a position he held from April 2016 to January 2017.
He began his career in the company as the Marketing Director, Biscuit Business Pakistan between June 2009 and August 2012. He later became the Head of New Categories and Gum and Candy, West Africa, up until September 2013. Between October 2013 to March 2016, he was the Marketing Director for West Africa in the company.
Shami had also acquired years of experience in Dulux Paints, where he worked as the Marketing Manager, Decorative Wall Paints, Pakistan from October 2004 to May 2008; Innovation Council ICI, Asia Pacific (January 2007 to December 2008); and National Sales Manager, Decorative Wall Paints, Pakistan (June 2008 to May 2009).
He was the Brand Manager, Oral care, Nutritionals and OTC, GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare between November 2001 and September 2004; Account Planner, Walls Ice Cream, Orient McCann Erickson, between November 2000 and October 2001; and Assistant Brand Manager, Biscuit Category, OJ Foods, between July 1998 and October 2000.
