APCON builds capacity for entry-Level professionals

To articulate and further consolidate initiatives to drive professionalism in the advertising industry, the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria, APCON has concluded a two-day training to keep young professionals abreast of the fundamental knowledge of the business and practice of advertising profession.

The E-Level IMC programme which was facilitated by experts from the different sub-sectors of the Integrated Marketing Communications industry was held at the prestigious Ibis Hotel, Ikeja Lagos.

In a welcome address delivered by Joe- Eugene Onuorah, Director, Registration, APCON on behalf of Dr. Lekan Fadolapo, Registrar, APCON, he re-emphasised the agency’s commitment to repositioning the industry for growth through capacity building.

According to him, acquainting professionals with the basic knowledge of the business will enable them to perform effectively in delivering value to their clients and most importantly function within the confines of the principles and ethics of the profession.

“We intend to bring participants into the rudiments and fundamentals of practice. We call it entry-level because it is essentially designed as a foundational course. We know that some people have been around for a while, but need to refresh their minds on the foundations of our business.

“They are here to update themselves to be abreast of the starting point.  There is no way someone will do well in the IMC industry if he doesn’t know the things we intend to teach in this programme” he added.

The facilitators who are leading experts in the IMC gave insights into critical areas of the business through vivid illustrations and analysis.

Some of the courses covered theories of communication, fundamentals of marketing, communication, and advertising, 360 Degree Marketing Communications, fundamentals and Application of Consumer Insight in IMC, Marketing Research as Component of IMC programme, IMC, New Media and Digital Space amongst other critical areas of the IMC industry.

Among the facilitators are; Lanre Adisa, Managing Director, Noah’s Ark Communications Limited, Tunji Adeyinka, President, Experiential Marketers Association of Nigeria (EXMAN) and Group Managing Director of Republicom Group, Jude Odia, Managing Director, Media Perspectives, Emmanuel Agu,  Group Managing Director, JOTNA( LaCasera Group), among several other highly cerebral and distinguished experts.

Participants were awarded certificates at the end of the training.
