Air Peace gets IOSA certification
Air Peace Airline on Tuesday bagged the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) certification by the International Airlines Transport Association (IATA).
The IOSA programme is an internationally recognized and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline after which a certificate is awarded to such airline if it passes all the requirements.
The certificate was presented to the Chief Executive Officer of the airline, Mr. Allen Onyema, by the IATA Area Manager for West Africa, Dr. Samson Fatokun, at the company’s headquarters in Ikeja GRA, Lagos.
While presenting the certificate to the Air Peace’s boss, Dr. Fatokun congratulated the management of the airline for the ability to attain such certification.
He said that the association has put measures in place to ensure that all African airlines will be on IOSA registry by the end of 2017.
Fatokun said:”Today, we are pleased to present the certificate to Air Peace, meaning that they have met the requirements. Air Peace has attained the safety standards of other airlines in advanced countries. I congratulate the organization”.
Stressing that it takes a very rigorous system to actualize IOSA standard, Fatokun added that “Such certificate makes all know that the aircraft management and maintenance are safe. It gives the passengers more assurance and confidence. Air Peace needs to keep it because the requirements keep changing. Air Peace will move to enhanced IOSA, whereby, the quality assurance is monitored on daily bases”.
Expressing his gratitude for receiving the IOSA certificate, Onyema thanked the IATA representatives, adding that this is the first time an airline could achieve such feat within a period of two and half years.
He noted that since the inception of the airline’s operations in the country, the management of the airlines has always adhered to safety standards both locally and internationally.
“I run Air Peace like a passenger with phobia for flying. I want it to be so safe and we want top notch pilots, engineers and workers. We try to get everything right”, Onyema said.
According to him, with the IOSA certificate, the airline is already making consultations with some foreign airlines for code share arrangements.
“I travelled four days ago because of code share. We are not afraid of code share with a reputable airline. Most foreign airlines are eager to do business with us. They want to work with Air Peace”, he added.
