Nigeria collaborates with Sweden to strengthen digital economy

The Federal Government has formed a collaboration with the Swedish Technology companies with a view to strengthening the Nigerian digital economy.
Minister of Communication, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr Bosun Tijani recently disclosed this on his X handle while giving an update on a trip to Sweden.
According to him, the Nigerian delegations who were led by the Vice President, Senator Kashim Shettima engaged the swedish technology companies in a discussion that centered on advancing partnerships between Nigeria and Sweden.
He noted that the two countries explored possible areas of collaboration aimed at accelerating different sectors of the economy including the Nigeria’s growing digital economy.
“The talks centered on fostering innovation, improving digital infrastructure, and enhancing the country’s technological capacity through knowledge exchange and investment. The partnership with Swedish tech firms represents a strategic step in driving digital transformation in Nigeria.
“We have built on the strong foundation of collaboration between Nigeria and Sweden, particularly in the technology sector. Our goal is to ensure that these discussions lead to tangible results that will benefit our economy and create opportunities for growth,” the Minister stated.
On his part, Senator Shettima highlighted the trade conversations that transpired between the two countries officials which will also continue in the coming months. The vice president hinted that the discussion focused on areas such as digital innovation, education, and commerce, noting that the collaboration is seen as crucial to improving Nigeria’s digital infrastructure and expanding its presence in the global tech landscape.
He said, “Both nations are optimistic that these discussions will lead to significant investments, as Sweden is known for its robust technology ecosystem and expertise in digital solutions. Nigeria, with its rapidly growing tech sector, stands to gain from these partnerships, and will enable her to further position herself as a leader in Africa’s digital transformation.”
