After 10 years Sabbatical, Big Brother Naija 2017 Commences
Ten years after the maiden edition, Big Brother Naija returned on Sunday night as 12 housemates made their entry into the Big Brother house.
The twelve ‘total strangers’ will slug it out within a period of 11 weeks for a star prize of N25 million and a Kia Sorento SUV. Live eviction shows will hold on Sunday nights.
General Manager, Marketing and Sales, MultiChoice Nigeria, Martin Mabutho, while speaking at the live screening in Lagos said the show promises 78 days of fun and entertainment. He disclosed that due to demand, the company had reached a deal to make the show an Africa special and as such will be broadcasted live in several African countries.
‘‘I hope the house mates chosen will give us the joy and fun. A decision was made after so much lobbying by other African countries that they want to have a taste of Big Brother Naija. We will be exporting what our housemates will be showing to other 47 countries in Africa,’’ he said.
The twelve contestants comprising of six male and six female were introduced to viewers and thereafter commenced their journey to the ultimate prize. First to go into the house was Uriel from Imo State. Second was 27 year-old Kemen from Akwa Ibom State. Followed by Rapper, Cocoice.
From Kaduna State was 28 year-old DJ and Civil Servant, Bally, followed by 26 year-old Mass Communication graduate, Marvis from Delta State. She’s 11th of 21-children in a polygamous family.
The sixth entrant was 6ft-7 Thin Tall Tony who danced on stage in Big Brother Nigeria 2006. Next to him was 23 year-old Nollywood actress from Anambra State, Gifty, followed by Soma, a 24 year-old graphic artist and singer from Imo State.
A mother, artist and radio presenter, Bisola, made her entry into the house, followed by Miyonse, a 24 year old chef from Lagos. Then came 22 year old TBoss from Edo State, with seven tattoos and eight piercings on her body. The last entry into the house was a lively 23 years old, Efe from Warri, Delta State who said he’s entering the house with a combination of ‘madness’ from two famous Nigerian towns; Warri and Jos.
One thing common to them all; they are all in the house for the money.
