Wema bank is making little actions count through M.A.D Campaign
Apparently inspired by its exciting growth trajectory, which saw it evolve from a regional bank into a leading national financial institution, Wema Bank is now transforming that experience into a philosophy that seeks to celebrate little actions that make significant impact in the lives of individuals and the society.
In a campaign which has been strategically tagged Make A Difference (M.A.D), the bank is out to demonstrate how little, everyday actions can leave a lasting impression in the lives of those around us and in our society.
Wema Bank is not just preaching the message, rather leading by example. Recently, staff members of the Bank resolved as a family to donate a day’s salary towards noteworthy causes like paying in full the medical bills of patients in public hospitals, providing a brighter future for several children by taking up their school fees, and renewing the hope of families by providing financial aid to support their businesses.
In 2016, a physically-challenged hairdresser bought herself a wheelchair and set up a beauty shop from the funds received from such donations. She is doing well and has started production of her beauty care line. Also, last year, donations were channeled into paying the hospital bills of patients at the Children’s emergency ward at LUTH, Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital, Old GRA Port Harcourt and Wuse General Hospital, Abuja, ensuring that these kids have another chance at chasing their dreams.
“As a bank that prides itself in creating wealth for its people, we are determined to shape the minds of those around us that wealth is beyond financial fortunes; beyond riches. It is an overall wellness of the entire being. This means wealth is reserved for a few but can be found and experienced in the little things that make meaningful impact,” the banks said in a recent statement.
This year, the Bank is keen to showcase wealth in all spheres of life by celebrating people and showcasing the wealth of opportunities abound in communities. So, for the first 14 days in February, Wema Bank has lined up simple, everyday activities that will impact every segment of the society; “from our kids to the elderly, the less privileged to the working professional and business person,” the bank said.
“The Bank will also be championing several initiatives including donating Malaria-treated mosquito nets to pregnant women and vulnerable people; creating Safety Corners for School Kids; caring for the nation’s service men who labor daily to ensure commuting is safe and smooth by offering them a bottle of water to quench their thirst; showcasing the wealth in garbage by cleaning Beaches and recycling the trash collected; celebrating the creativity of our kids by encouraging them to express themselves with art and rewarding those that excel; and supporting a home financially from funds realized from a day’s salary donation.”
These actions, according to the bank, may be not hit the high notes and make the front pages but they go a long in impacting the lives of those around us and the communities we strive to enhance daily.
