Ipsos iris, a credible platform that provides an online audience measurement solution at every level of business, has released its top 10 retail and commerce category ranking for January 2023 data.This was disclosed in the LinkedIn platform.
According to the online measurement solution platform, the new Ipsos data tracks the total internet population (14+) across desktop, smartphone & tablet, providing an up to date view on the site traffic and a proxy for the potential scale of their respective retail media businesses. The analysis for the ranking results is as follows:
Amazon tops the list of the Australian ‘Retail & Commerce’ category with an audience of 14.5 million.
Amazon is #1 by some margin, with the top 5 breaking the 10 million audience benchmark
Amazon is also streets ahead for time spent, with over 44 minutes per person – more time more opportunity to monetize with ads, providing greater scale for their retail media program

Discount department stores – like Kmart Australia Limited & BIG W reach decent audiences, but time spent browsing is low. It’s a different type of shop than grocery or marketplaces, but still indicates a challenge for scaling their retail media programs
