Three winners emerged at Eco-Friendly Art Contest
Three winners have emerged at the maiden edition of the “Eco Friendly Children’s Painting Contest” organized by Eko Hotel Limited within its premises at Victoria Island, Lagos.
The three winners include: Adegoke Ademola from Kings College who emerged the overall winner of the competition and won a star prize of N250,000 followed by Abdul-Azim Akindele from British International School (BIS), who won a prize of N150,000 and Olugbenga Ayooluwa from Holy Child College won N100,000 respectively.
While expressing his gratitude to the organizers of the competition, Ademola stressed that his efforts in the craft of painting have payed-off by winning the competition.
He noted that he started painting while he was in JSS1 just as he urged other students to judiciously put their talents into use for the good of the society.
In his words: “I feel surprise and happy. I have been painting since when I was in JSS1 but I started my drawing work when I was in Primary 4 and now I am in SS1”
Speaking in the same vein, Olugbenga Ayooluwa pointed out that she was really grateful to Eko Hotel for organizing such a competition, stressing that it was the first competition that she had emerged as one of the top-three winners.
Ayooluwa who noted that she had faced a lot of discouragement for going into the arts emphasized that winning in the competition has given her hope that she has a lot to offer.
She said:“I am happy to be the third winner of the EKo Hotel painting competition. I Want to say a big thank you to them for giving me the opportunity to take part in this competition because, on my own, I have been discouraged by a lot of people in pursuing arts and this is the first large scale competition that I have done and it is also the first one that I won.
“This is very encouraging to me and it is a confirmation that yes people will discourage me but this shows that I have a lot in me and I can do a lot more and this will definitely make me do more.” Ayooluwa added.
The Managing Director, Eko Hotel Limited, Mr. Ghassan Faddoul, while congratulating the winners noted that the contest was part of the company’s commitment to go green as well as encourage the younger generation to do the same.
Faddoul stressed that the event was organized to mark Earth Day as well as launch the Eco Friendly Campaign which is geared towards encouraging the preservation of nature.
