Stakeholders laud MIPAN President’s Dinner & Awards Night
By Abimbola Mohammed
Echoes from the recently held MIPAN President’s Dinner and Awards Night still reverberate as the Stakeholders in the Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) industry continue to commend the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) for its efforts to put together all the people that matter in the industry for such a great occasion.
Commending the efforts of the association the Doyen of advertising in Nigeria, Dr. Biodun Sonbanjo, said he was excited to see how the executives lead by the President, Femi Adelusi, have taken the Association to the next level.
“It’s the first President’s Dinner they are going to have, if they deem it for me to chair it, I feel highly privileged for which I thank the exco and members of MIPAN. What MIPAN is doing is great, bringing all the players in the industry together. There has to be collaboration. They could have their Chinese walls to prevent whatever they are doing, confidentiality within their space but it doesn’t make them enemies of one another, so they should collaborate. I like what they are doing, I like the spirit. It is very good, very free, and I will encourage that a lot.”
Also commending the efforts of the association, Dolapo Ogunbambo, Director Business strategy & innovation, Starcom Media Perspectives, said MIPAN now has a committee that is beginning to drive inclusiveness.
“For the first time we are having a executive committee that is beginning to drive all-inclusiveness which is a very good thing. We are expanding the frontiers of our practice beyond just traditional media independent agencies to more of digital agencies. Conversations are ongoing, we have a lot of hand-shakes with other sectoral bodies within marketing communications and we also have opportunity for us as a body to know ourselves more.
Continuing he said: “It is a lot of fun that we have had to interact with ourselves and grow on a larger scale. I think that is one thing that is beautiful about this development.”
On his part, Ozone Mbanefo, Founder 02 Academy applauds MIPAN for creating affinity across different stakeholders.
“I think this is what it should be. it’s an avenue to bring the Who is Who of the industry together and also ring some sort of affinity across different stakeholders. My greatest joy is seeing people that I haven’t seen in a long time and the people that matter in the industry. This helps to create some sort of bound across different industries and stakeholders and truly together we can make this industry go far. Events like this are highly welcome and coming from MIPAN, my respect for them just increased on another level. Bringing all stakeholders together and helping to create some sort of bonding within different sectors in the industry is something other sectors should emulate,. Here I am seeing people from ADVAN, AAAN, and APCON among others. It’s a very welcome concept and trust me other sectors should take a lead from this.”
