PHD wins Delta Air Lines global media business
Delta Air Lines has appointed Omnicom Media Group’s PHD to handle its estimated $100m global media account following a competitive pitch.
It is understood that PHD pitched against the incumbent, Publicis Groupe’s Digitas, before defeating IPG Media brands’ UM in the final round.
The review was managed by Joanne Davis Consulting, according to reports. PHD was unavailable for comment, while Delta could not be reached.
PHD will manage all traditional and digital media out of the US, with spending expected to more than double from the $45m the brand invested in media in 2015.
It follows PHD’s appointment to handle the UK media planning and buying for Virgin Atlantic, which is 49% owned by US carrier Delta.
Delta adds to the business PHD USA has picked up from the likes of Converse, GSK and MGM Resorts over the past 12 months.
