Ojutalayo Assumes Higher Responsibilities in MTN Group
In a bid to better address the needs of enterprise customers in Africa, the biggest telecommunication and most valuable brand, MTN has appointed Omotayo Ojutalayo as general manager of its group small and medium enterprises, SME segment. Until this appointment, she was a senior manager in the same unit of MTN’s operations.
In a statement released by Mteto Nyati, chief enterprise officer, on behalf of MTN Group, she said, “This is in line with our purpose to enable and inspire the growth of enterprises in emerging markets and through the development of this new area, we will ensure there is greater focus on the technology needs of SMEs.
“We believe that the MTN has an opportunity to further aid development in the countries where we operate by using technology to enable SMEs to grow.”
Ojutalayo, an alumnus of the University of Lagos, who has served in various capacities for MTN Nigeria, is expected to assist the company in her new role via the plethora of experience she has amassed as disclosed by Nyati.
“As an internal appointment, Ojutalayo is well versed in our business. She has also been working in our Nigerian operation for over four years, with a special focus on the SME segment.”
Ojutalayo’s new role will include her supervising MTN’s strategic and go-to-market approach for the company’s SME customer segment as well as collaborating with her counterparts in other SME units where the company operates to provide support and ensure effective enactment of the SME value plans.
