NIMASA Unveils New Logo to Drive Economic Growth
In its quest to reposition the maritime sector as the country’s highest revenue earner, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has unveiled a new logo.
The new logo marks the rebirth of NIMASA and the maritime industry, which is valued at one hundred billion dollars annually.
President Muhammadu Buhari represented by the vice president, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, unveiled the new logo at the 3rd Conference of the Association of Heads of African Maritime Administration (AAMA) held recently.
Prof. Osinbajo said the new NIMASA brand serves as signpost of the government determination to reposition the agency.
“We are reforming NIMASA so that it can play its expected role as a facilitator of economic prosperity. We are paying significant attention to making it easier to do business, and one of our immediate priorities in this regard is the entry and exit of goods, especially in our sea ports. The measures that we are putting in place are designed to improve the efficiency of our ports and to enable quick turnaround time of vessels. Technology is also being deployed to make our port operations more transparent and effective in support of economic growth”, he said.
He added that the rebranding is part of efforts to respond appropriately to challenges facing the Nigerian maritime sector and to create an enabling working environment with African counterparts.
“For any one following the development of the African maritime sector, there can be no question that more than ever before, our countries are beginning to accord the sector the importance that it deserves”, he stated.
The Director General of NIMASA, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, on his part noted that Nigeria accounts for over 60% of the total seaborne traffic in volume and value in West and Central Africa region. The country is determined to advance African maritime prosperity, especially with the new look it has and other rebranding effort it is undergoing.
