Nigerian Breweries appoints Lawal new sales director as Unigwe retires

Effective from May 1st 2023, Ayodele Lawal will resume the position of Sales Director at Nigerian Breweries Plc as Uche Unigwe, the current Sales Director, retires after attaining the mandatory retirement age on the same day.
The announcement was made by Sade Morgan, Corporate Affairs Director, Nigerian Breweries, during a press briefing that was held at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja Lagos.
“We are celebrating 34 years of excellence as we say goodbye to our Sales Director, Mr Uche Unigwe, he will be retiring effective 1st of May 2023. We celebrate him because he has had a very robust, proud history at the Nigeria Breweries.
“He joined NB as a Brewer in 1989, moved to the sales team in 2000; he was the regional account manager and national trade marketing manager. For over 11years, he worked in the Heineken OpCo in Sierra Leone, Netherland, UK, Tanzania, Uganda and Kenya. He returned to Nigeria in 2018 as sales director. Unigwe, did some strategic changes to transform our Route-to-consumers. We are proud of everything that he has done for NB Plc,” she said.
Morgan continued as she introduced Mr. Lawal saying: “We introduce our incoming Sales Director, Mr. Ayodele Lawal. He will resume the position effectively from may 1st 2023 as well. He started as a brewer and moved to sales, and the beauty of it is he is a great partaker of knowledge of the product manufactured into the sales process and strategy. Lawal has had a very national career in Nigeria working in all of our regions and at the same time being able to impact other portfolios managing Heineken OpCo in Haiti. He returned to Nigeria in 2022, and has worked closely with Uche, the outgoing sales director.”
“Aside from Ayodele being someone that is phenomenally disciplined, he is also passionate about capacity building, talent development and people. We are really excited to announce him as the new sales director.
