Nigeria signs MoU on National Carrier, MRO at World Aviation Forum
The Federal Government is set to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Boeing for the establishment of a national carrier in the country.
The Minister of State, Aviation, Senator Hadi Sirika, who disclosed this, said that the MoU would be signed during the on-going International World Aviation Forum (IWAF) 2017 holding at the Transcorp Hilton Abuja.
Sirika further pointed out that the government would also sign an MoU with Airbus, another aircraft manufacturing company, which had also indicated interest in partnering with Nigeria on the same project and will, in addition, establish a Maintenance Repair Overhaul (MRO) facility in the country.
According to him, the forum would help to change the phase of the aviation industry globally and in Nigeria, in particular.
The three-day event is themed: “Financing the Development of Aviation Infrastructure” and is the 3rd edition of the event which is organized by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) with Nigeria being the first country to host the occasion outside the ICAO’s headquarters in Montreal, Canada.
Already, expectations are high as many Nigerians wonder what the country stands to gain from hosting global aviation leaders across the world from November 20-22.
