NBC Receives Nigeria Safety Awards for Excellence
In recognition of its continuous compliance to standards in occupational health and safety, Nigerian Bottling Company Limited (NBC) has received the prestigious Nigeria Safety Awards for Excellence. The award presentation ceremony took place at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, amidst selected and credible national health and safety regulatory governmental organisations, professional bodies and stakeholders in matters relating to health and safety of employees in the workplace.
In a Company statement on the Nigeria Safety Awards, Legal, Public Affairs and Communications Director, Sade Morgan, reiterated that, “At NBC, utmost priority is given to occupational health and safety in all aspect of our operation. At the core of our integrated annual business plan is our objective to produce and deliver world class quality products with zero tolerance to workplace accidents. On a regular basis, employees, contractors on and off site, visitors and all who are involved in our operations, are constantly being re-oriented to adhere to strict safety principles and practices.”
While receiving the award for NBC, Green Ibifubara, Operations Safety Manager, assured stakeholders that the Company will continue to invest time and resources in safety in the workplace, in accordance with best in class manufacturing practices and reaffirmed the Company’s commitment to raising the bar of performance that has earned NBC the award. He stated that safety is a culture that all must continue to imbibe always.
The Nigeria Safety Award for Excellence celebrates organisations that go above and beyond the call of duty and is endorsed by credible national and international professional safety organizational bodies, which include Institute of Safety Professional Organisation of Nigeria (ISPON), Society of Occupational and Environmental Health Physicians of Nigeria (SOEHPON), World Safety Organisation (WSO) and American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE). The award is based on recommendations by federal and state government organization and agencies such as the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Federal Road Safety Corporation, and the Lagos State Safety Commission, for their visible role in promoting health and safety.
