MTN Teams up with Arsenal FC to engage Nigerian football fans

Nigeria’s leading telecommunication company, MTN has announced a partnership with top flight English Premiership team, Arsenal FC. MTN aims to engage its customers in alignment to their passion and aspirations and ultimately develop football in Nigeria.

Nigerian football stars including ex internationals Kanu Nwankwo, a former Arsenal player, Austin Okocha and Other Football Stakeholders who were present at the official announcement of the partnership applauded MTN for the initiative. They are optimistic that the industry will grow better and stronger.

Speaking on this development, the Chief Marketing Officer, MTN Nigeria, Rahul De, described the partnership as a symbolic and significant leap for Arsenal, MTN and Nigerian soccer.

He said: “We are pleased to announce this partnership with Arsenal because it is a significant development that will positively affect the growth of the game of soccer in the country. MTN, as we all know is a company is always seeking for innovative ways to engage its customers in alignment to their passion and aspirations. It is in view of this that we consider our partnership with Arsenal as symbolic and a strategic leap that will enhance our customers engagement.”

While giving details of the partnership, De stated that MTN will be bringing representatives from Arsenal FC to conduct Football clinics for coaches and other football enthusiasts. He further added that football scouting opportunities, special training sessions, Sessions in Soccer Schools, Meet and Greet sessions with football icons including Arsenal stars amongst other football related activities will be organized as a part of the partnership with Arsenal.

“One of the components of the partnership is that we will be having series of activities specially designed for soccer lovers across the country. This is going to be an opportunity for Nigerians to get firsthand knowledge from the representatives of Arsenal FC and we are positive that they will make the best out of it,” he added.

Still speaking on the partnership, De further informed that MTN will offer a number of exclusive Arsenal related benefits to the Club’s large fan base in Nigeria as well as to MTN’s over 62 million subscribers. MTN will also offer its customers access to a range of match and player content including match highlights, club news, interviews and club imagery.

While confirming the development, Arsenal’s Chief Commercial Officer, Vinai Venkatesham, said: “Arsenal has huge support in Nigeria and this partnership with MTN, will really help us engage with these passionate fans on a regular and personal basis.”
