Lagos NIPR Week Will Create PR awareness among political office holders- Chairman
Chairman of the Lagos State chapter of Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Mr. Olusegun McMedal, has said that the forth-coming Lagos Public Relations Week and Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be devoted to creating awareness among political office holders on the need for public relations.
The PR Week themed: “Exemplary Leadership: Public Relations Art for Nation-State Building” is expected to begin from May 24-June 2, 2017.
McMedal said that the week-long event will help practitioners to connect with political leaders and enable the latter to see reasons to rethink socio-political development approaches on hand.
According to him, the event would also help in boosting the brand identity of the profession among practitioners in the state, adding that the body has a duty to stimulate new thinking through quality discourse and engagement.
He said events lined-up for the week include a debate among university students on the topic: University PR Challenge, PRoBuddies Invitational Football Tournament, Health Check-Up and Awareness Walk for Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Others, according to McMedal, are leadership lecture with the theme: ‘Exemplary Leadership: Public Relations Art for Nation-State Building’, which will hold at the MUSON Centre on May 31, and will be followed by the Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The Lagos NIPR’s boss added that the week-long activities will be climaxed with a dinner with Corporate Lagos and a special fund raising gala towards the building of a befitting secretariat for the Lagos State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
