KAROTA intercepts over 4,600 bottles of alcohol in Kano

The Kano Road and Traffic Agency (KAROTA) made a significant interception, seizing a truck transporting more than 4,600 bottles of alcoholic drinks. Nabilusi Abubakar, the agency’s Public Relations Officer, disclosed this concerning the incident in Kano State.
Reportedly, the truck, identified with registration number FGG 407 XB, was stopped along Ibrahim Taiwo Road at approximately 4 am on Sunday by vigilant KAROTA officers. The driver, upon sighting the agency’s personnel, swiftly abandoned the vehicle and fled.
Faisal Kabir, the Managing Director of KAROTA, assured that following a thorough investigation, the confiscated alcoholic beverages would be handed over to the Hisbah Board for appropriate actions in line with state regulations.
Kabir emphasized the importance of public support in KAROTA’s mission to maintain the state’s security and enforce compliance with established laws.
The Kano State government previously enforced a ban on beer consumption across the entire state. The Hisbah, acting as a religious police force, is mandated to confiscate and dispose of alcoholic beverages as prescribed by Sharia law.
