GTBank holds Autism Conference

Guaranty Trust Bank Plc will on June 20th and 21st, hold its annual Autism Conference at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

The annual seminar which is now in its sixth edition is one way that the commercial bank chooses to give back to society in recognition of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).

The theme of this year’s conference is ‘Managing Autism: The next generation, considerations and resources’ and who feature various speakers and consultants in that field.

Some of the expected speakers are Dr. Anna Lamikanra, Executive Director, Blazing Trails International Center (BTIC) Autism Symposium Co-Developer and an evergreen Professor at Wuhan Polytechnic University; Dr. Marcus Tillery of Princeton University School of Divinity and The Mission for Social Justice The Riverside Church, New York; Dr. David Reed Bechtel, a nationally Board Certified Behaviour Analyst; Mrs. Susan Jean Heatter, a board certified behaviour analyst and Mrs. Taramoni Muldrew Clark, an Alternative Communication Specialist and the Vocational Services Coordinator, Blazing Trails International, Dallas, Texas.

Others are Denise Hetherington who recently retired from working as a Speech Pathologist for the Chicago Public Schools; Aliya Gordon-Redwine, a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCaBA) and a certified emergency medical technician (EMT); Dr. Diane V. Davis-Williams, the owner of BNM Professional Consultng Services, Inc; Mrs. Dotun Akande, Director, Patrick Speech & Languages Centre, Lagos and Dr. Andrew Olagunju, a faculty member of the Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, University of Lagos.

It would be recalled that GTBank co-sponsored the Autism Walk in Lagos in April as part of activities to mark Autism Awareness Month.
