Genevieve Nnaji signs artiste management deal with top Hollywood company
Genevieve Nnaji’s career dream of joining the ranks of top Hollywood artistes received a major boost following recent report that she has been signed to the world famous United Talent Agency (UTA).
UTA, established in 1991, is a private company representing talents in a variety of industries, including film, television, digital media, publishing, music, and video games, among others. The Beverly Hills, California-based talent agency is one of the largest in the world, with approximately 300 agents including Hollywood superstars like Kevin Hart, Angelina Jolie, Johnny Depp, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Brown, Mariah Carey, and DJ Khaled.
This development further cements Ms. Nnaji’s status as one of Africa’s biggest movie stars. Observers have said the deal could see her collaborating with top Hollywood filmmakers to produce movies from African including Nigerian stories.
A former brand ambassador for Amstel Malta, Etisalat, Coscharis etc, Nnaji recently released a movie- Lion Heart- which is her directorial debut. The film has received rave review from Nigerian and global mainstream media including CNN.
The film which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festivals last month, has become the first original feature from Nigeria to debut on the US based streaming service Netflix.
